Perrins Brothers
Our story
Perrins Brothers is the umbrella brand for three businesses:
Ben is a Business Strategist specialising in Consumer Electronics and European Retail. He graduated from the University of Sheffield and went on to study at Insead in Fontainebleau. After an instructive 10 years in the corporate world (including a spell living and working in South East France) he set up BPBC Ltd in 2010. Ben loves sports cars and unnecessarily perilous road trips, is a member of MENSA and endeavours to use his brain for good and not evil.
Christian is an award winning Creative Strategist specialising in Digital Marketing. He graduated with a 1st from Bournemouth University's Media School, winning the 'Advertising Student of The Year' and 'Brand Management Student Of The Year' awards. Since then CPCC Ltd have conceived a wide variety of cross-platform strategies for the Film, Publishing, Gaming and Music industries and various FMCG brands. Despite his innate desire to avoid the limelight, Christian has spoken at numerous IAB conferences and master-classes.
Eschewing the comic-book staple of magical amulets, Ben and Christian created Perrins Brothers Ltd to combine their special powers. The brothers host weekly gatherings which generally result in exciting new ideas and only occasionally erupt into ultra-violence. The company focuses on IP Origination, Product Development, Positive Life Adventures and Philanthropy.
Our adventures
Samsung
"Ben Perrins has worked as a consultant to our IT Business for the past ten months. Through his excellent knowledge of the market, our competitors and understanding of our key customers, Ben helped to design and implement a retail strategy that has seen our business enjoy significant market share growth. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ben to any company who were looking for retail expertise in the IT market."
2011 : David Song, Vice President, Samsung Electronics
Universal Pictures
"Christian is the mad scientist of marketing. No matter how demanding the brief he can always be counted on to conjure up a range of ideas from the simple and effective to boundary-pushing cross-media executions that can be tailored to meet any budget and always managing to stay true to your objectives."
2012 : Abi Smith, Digital Production Manager, Universal Pictures International
Microsoft
"Ben's invaluable experience in both OEM and retail is helping to shape our strategic direction over the next year. Specifically, Ben is helping us to transform the way we connect our advertising and channel strategies to drive maximum market impact."
2010 : Leila Martine - Director of Windows Consumer Division – Microsoft
Waste
"We brought Christian into Waste to lead our Strategy department just under 12 months ago. He quickly assimilated our creative culture and devised a really exciting direction for the business which he is now helping us to achieve. Christian is a high-energy creative thinker and a first-class communicator. We've also had digital retail consultations with Ben which have been hugely insightful and beneficial."
2012 : Scott Holland, Managing Partner, Waste Creative
20:20
"I have worked in the Marketing Industry for 15 years, alongside some truly exceptional Planners, but none more so than Christian. His ability to provide strategic insight and direction – as well as creative inspiration, has been at the heart my most effective campaigns. I have used his services on a consultancy basis for over two years on a range of blue-chip clients and my only regret is that I haven't been able to convince him to join the team full time. I would recommend him wholeheartedly."
2012 : Jonathan Hale, Client Partner, 20:20
Paramount Pictures
"Christian is one of those few people you meet from time to time who just 'gets it'. A big brained digital native with an innate understanding of what makes brand marketing & audiences really tick. He is one of those rare minds that has a level of creativity and strategic insight that the very biggest creative agencies all seek to retain. His mentality is that the idea is the format and at the essence of all good communications and the biggest compliment I can give him is that he (annoyingly) makes it look far too easy. Do not mistake this easy creative flair for a lack of integrity, Christians raison d'etre is delivering excellence in everything he does. On a personal level, Christian is a good friend, one of the good guys, a quirky, unique personality with a wicked sense of humour and someone I always look forward to catching up with to chew the breeze. I couldn't recommend him highly enough. I can guarantee he will help you & your brand stand out from the crowd in ways you'll wish you'd thought of yourself."
2012 : Heath Tyldesley, VP Interactive Marketing, Paramount Pictures International, 2006 – 2012 (Now a consultant at Arts Alliance Media, 2012)
Harper Collins
"Christian is the real brains behind our successful campaigns. He has the enthusiasm and excitement of a teenage boy, so he's the perfect consultant on the campaigns I run! It's been nothing but a pleasure working with him and I know I can always count on him to come up with an original, exciting and engaging angle on any project."
2012 : Tom Stabb, Digital Marketing Manager, Harper Collins Children's Books
Firebelly
"Christian is one of the most discerning strategists I've ever worked with. He goes to the heart of the challenge and always comes forward with incredibly creative strategies to engage people and gain traction amongst them so that they become advocates for the brand. Christian has helped us to win major new clients, as well as guiding us to numerous prestigious awards, including the BVA Agency Of The Year. I will hire this guy time and time again!"
2012 : Guy Meyer, Managing Director, Firebelly
Symantec
"Ben joined the Symantec/Norton team with a specific brief and along the way brought his expertise, good humour, impeccable retail contacts and a new perspective that meant a lot to both myself from a management point of view, and also to the whole consumer team. He enabled speed of thought, speed of action and the output of a number of key contracts and deliverables that will greatly benefit the UK business in the next fiscal year. I would recommend Ben wholeheartedly and work with him again without hesitation."
2012 : Simon Ellson, Head of Northern Europe, Consumer Business, Symantec
When Google UK needed advice on their retail go-to-market strategy in the summer of 2012, they turned to BPBC Ltd. Working with an affiliate consultant (Bill Moir), Ben resisted all attempts to set up Bill and Ben Consulting, opting instead to co-produce a raft of recommendations to ensure maximum engagement and value for Google Chromebooks in UK retail for 2013.
Lancia Beta Spyder
One of our riskier adventures involved restoring a 1979 Lancia Beta Spyder to its former inglorious state. This meant long-time family friend Scott ensuring that every highly flammable component, rustprone panel and porous window seal was exactly as bad as it was when it escaped (unchecked) from the factory in Italy. The car was then used to race 9 other similarly reliable cars nearly 3000 miles around Europe. Whilst the car's performance was sub-optimal, the adventure was extraordinary. The Lancia (now known as ‘Diversity' because it handles like Ron's old, old wooden ship) made it home with just 22 breakdowns and a smattering of whimsical fire based incidents. Ben took the car on a similar rally again in 2011 (winning 2 stages and lapping the Nürburgring without melting) and has just returned from a third and final perilous adventure which saw Team Lancia make it to Monte Carlo first and finish the overall rally in second place.
Chernobyl Children's Life Line
Naturally, Perrins Brothers Ltd does lots of good work for charity but doesn't like to talk about it. One small instance of positive intervention that merits a mention however is our sponsorship of the ‘welcome pack' for 10 children from Belarus and Ukraine who visited the UK in 2012. These children's lives are still being affected by the impact of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 and without banging on about it, some time in the UK does them the world of good. We're proud to be a small part of that positive story.
